Bachelor of Science in Psychology-Applied (Online)
The online psychology program at North Greenville University leads to a Bachelor of Science in Psychology-Applied (BSPY). This flexible degree introduces the adult learner to the field of Psychology by presenting courses that cover a large range of sub-disciplines in the field with a distinctly Christian approach.
Psychology Program - Prior Experiential Learning:
A student who is in their senior year (90+ hours) of the Psychology program, and has taken at least 15 hours of credit at NGU, may receive credit for prior experiential learning if the student meets the following criteria:
- The student completes PSYC-4391 Portfolio Development, with a grade of C or higher, in which the requisite hours of experiential learning are documented. No Experiential Learning credit can be granted without successful completion of the course.
- After consultation with the Program Coordinator, the Portfolio Development Instructor may approve (at his/her sole discretion) prior experiential learning credits (some or all). These credits may count toward Internship hours in the Psychology - Applied degree (a maximum of 6 hours).
- These will not be eligible to count towards the minimum of 30 credits that must be taken at NGU in order to graduate.

To serve the University by providing a theoretically sound education in a Christ-centered environment that will prepare the adult learner to advance the field of Psychology by understanding the balance between research, application and serving others.
The Student Learning Objectives of the Online Psychology program are to enable the adult learner to:
- Evaluate the major concepts, theoretical perspectives, empirical findings, historical trends, and relevant ethical issues in psychology;
- Apply research methods in psychology, including research design, data analysis, and interpretation;
- Utilize ethical values to evaluate psychological science and adopt values that build community at local, national, and global levels;
- Demonstrate critical thinking and effective communication in a variety of formats;
- Apply content and skills to career goals and develop a professional identity;
- Articulate and defend how they may become difference-makers in their chosen vocation and realms of service or ministry.
The faculty in the Psychology program come from a variety of Psychology’s subfields such as counseling, research, addictions, education, and several others. They are all committed to teaching Psychology in a biblically sound environment and are deeply committed Christians who endeavor to present the material in a biblically integrated approach. The faculty are approachable, present, and committed to the success of each student.
