HLSC-3480 Medical Aspects of Athletics

Musculoskeletal injuries are commonplace in both athletic and physical activity participation. Fundamental knowledge associated with preventing, assessing, and caring for injuries that occur during physical activity and athletic participation will be examined. Topics include pathology of sports and physical activity injury, the healing process, injury evaluation and treatment of the all lower peripheral joints and abnormal gait, first aid /emergency care, and injury rehabilitation, as well as preventative measures including the use of protective equipment, physical conditioning, and proper nutrition.
