MUAP-4000 Senior Recital

Piano Proficiency All non-keyboard principal candidates for the Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education, Music Performance and Music Worship Studies must pass the piano proficiency, and are required to enroll in piano until they have done so. Piano Proficiency Exams are conducted during juries, and Piano Proficiency candidates should pass the exam by the end of their sophomore year. After 6 semesters of piano, candidates who have not completed the exam will be required to take the course but the hours will not apply toward a music degree. Prerequisite for Study Piano â€" Open to all students in the University. Students may be assigned to private instruction or a section of Piano Lab. Placement is by audition/interview at the beginning of each semester. Piano majors/principals should display proficiency at the level of Bach’s Three Part Inventions, Chopin’s Ballade No. 3, Debussy’s Les collines d’Anacapri, or works of similar difficulty. Prerequisites: Audition/Interview Organ â€" Student should display keyboard proficiency at the level of the Bach Two and Three Part Inventions, or works of similar difficulty with independent parts. Placement based on audition/interview at beginning of each semester. Prerequisites: Audition/Interview Voice â€" Student able to sing two songs of contrasting style from the standard vocal repertoire Prerequisites: Audition/interview Brass, Woodwinds, Percussion, and Strings â€" Open to all students. Student placed in private lesson according to proficiency level. Prerequisites: Audition/Interview. Guitar â€" Open to all students. Students may be assigned to private instruction or to Guitar Class. Placement is by audition/interview at the beginning of each semester. Guitar majors/principals should display proficiency with chords, major/minor scales, pentatonic scales, or works which display such proficiencies. Prerequisites: Audition/Interview
