Overview
The purpose of the English program at North Greenville University is to offer a liberal arts-based curriculum that prepares students, within a Christian context, to read diverse literature with discernment and pleasure and to write with clarity, critical insight, and creativity. Students enrolled in the English minor will refine their skills in critical thinking, reading, interpretation, and writing as they encounter great works of literature and engage in writing that is both scholarly and creative.
The Creative Writing minor requires students to complete 18 hours of coursework. 6 hours are for required courses (ENGL-2355, Introduction to the Craft of Writing, and ENGL-3310, Creative Writing); the other 12 hours are elective courses chosen from the available course offerings in creative writing, including the option for practicum courses. English majors may minor in Creative Writing as long as their minor coursework and major coursework do not overlap.
