Overview
The purpose of the English program at North Greenville University is to offer a liberal arts-based curriculum that prepares students, within a Christian context, to read diverse literature with discernment and pleasure and to write with clarity, critical insight, and creativity. Students enrolled in the English minor will refine their skills in critical thinking, reading, interpretation, and writing as they encounter great works of literature and engage in writing that is both scholarly and creative.
The English minor requires students to complete 18 hours of coursework in English. 6 hours are for required courses (ENGL 2309, Introduction to English Studies and ENGL 4315, Shakespeare-Tragedies); the other 12 hours are elective courses chosen from the available course offerings in Cultural Identity, Literary Masterpieces, and Writing courses.
