Bachelor of Science in Business and Leadership (Online)

This program is closed and all current students are under teach-out agreements. No new students will be admitted to this program.

The online business program at North Greenville University leads to a Bachelor of Science in Business and Leadership (BSBL). Leadership, especially servant leadership, is best learned in an environment where Christ Makes the Difference. The business degree includes relevant, useful, and scholarly knowledge for immediate applicability to the workforce. Through this course of study students obtain a differential advantage over colleagues within a competitive environment. Among many unique features of this degree is the implementation of a 12 hour internship in which past and current workforce success can be directly applied to the student’s credit toward graduation. The BSBL includes the subjects of leadership, ethics, management, organizational behavior, operations, marketing, international business, economics, and accounting.

Business and Leadership Program - Prior Experiential Learning

A student who is in their senior year (but prior to their last term) of the Business and Leadership program, and has taken at least 15 hours of credit at NGU, may receive Internship credit for Prior Experiential Learning if the student meets the following criteria:

  • The student completes BUSN-4370 Portfolio Development, with a grade of C or higher, in which significant hours of experiential learning are documented. No Experiential Learning credit can be granted without successful completion of the course.
  • After consultation with the Business and Leadership Program Coordinator, the Portfolio Development Instructor may approve (at his/her sole discretion) prior experiential learning credits (some or all). These credits may count toward Internship hours in the Business and Leadership degree (up to a maximum of 12 hours).
  • The student pays for one-credit hour of tuition. NOTE: FSA funds may be awarded only for learning that results from instruction provided or overseen by the school. FSA funds cannot be awarded for any portion of the program based on study or life experience prior to enrollment in the program or based on tests of learning that are not associated with educational activities overseen by the school. Thus, FSA will not cover the one-credit hour payment for the Prior Experiential Learning.
  • These transfers will not be eligible to count towards the minimum of 30 credits that must be taken at NGU in order to graduate.

Business and Leadership Internship Program and Options for Credit:

The Business and Leadership internship program has two components and three selectable categories.

  • A senior level course, BUSN-4370 Portfolio Development, which all business students must complete with a grade of C or higher.
  • 3-12 hours of internship credit (BUSN-4380) within one of three categories:
    • Category I: the student may opt to transfer up to 12 credit hours of Prior Experiential Learning.
    • Category II: the student may opt to take up to 12 credit hours of on-the-job internship.
    • Category III: the student may opt to use the 12 credit hours as additional open electives.
